If you are looking for classes to stretch and strengthen your body and to learn how to relax this is for you. I teach various levels and populations (from teens to elderly). I also liaise with local physio's and osteopaths to help tailor the best exercises when working on one to one basis or in rehabilitation classes.
About Pilates
Pilates is a mind and body conditioning programme designed to rebalance and re-educate the body, allowing it to move well.
It was developed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s and was originally called ‘The Art of Contrology’. Pilates technique is still firmly rooted in Joseph Pilates’s original teachings. It is considered a safe and effective form of exercise whether you are a newcomer to exercise, recovering from injury, or want to enhance your current exercise regime. Pilates is suitable for all ages and all abilities.
It helps to strengthen deep, core muscles and relieves tension by releasing tight muscles particularly around the back, neck and hips. Pilates can help re-shape your body, which will become longer, leaner and more toned allowing a balanced body of strength and flexibility.
The Pilates Method is proving to be popular and effective not only for people with back pain and recurring injuries but also for top athletes and exercise professionals. Andy Murray, Harry Kane, Gareth Bale, Tiger Woods, Chelsea football club, the All Blacks rugby team and even the GB men’s rowing four have all benefited from it.
The consistent success rate in helping to relieve back pain, realign the body and improve posture has brought Pilates to the attention of medical specialists such as GPs, Physiotherapists chiropractors and osteopaths.
With years of experience I offer both group matwork classes and also specialise in 1:1 private sessions to accommodate and rehabilitate a wide range of injuries and issues often in conjunction with the local physio or osteopath.
